چکیده

LOCATE is a curated, web-accessible database that houses data describing the membrane organization and subcellular localization of mouse and human proteins. Over the past 2 years, the data in LOCATE have grown substantially. The database now contains high-quality localization data for 20% of the mouse proteome and general localization annotation for nearly 36% of the mouse proteome. The proteome annotated in LOCATE is from the RIKEN FANTOM Consortium Isoform Protein Sequence sets which contains 58 128 mouse and 64 637 human protein isoforms. Other additions include computational subcellular localization predictions, automated computational classification of experimental localization image data, prediction of protein sorting signals and third party submission of literature data. Collectively, this database provides localization proteome for individual subcellular compartments that will underpin future systematic investigations of these regions. It is available at http://locate.imb.uq.edu.au/

LOCATE: a mouse protein subcellular localization database

We present here LOCATE, a curated, web-accessible database that houses data describing the membrane organization and subcellular localization of proteins from the FANTOM3 Isoform Protein Sequence set. Membrane organization is predicted by the high-throughput, computational pipeline MemO. The subcellular locations of selected proteins from this set were determined by a high-throughput, immunoflu...

Evidence for an association between Wnt-independent -catenin intracellular localization and ovarian apoptotic events in normal and PCO-induced rat ovary

The association of secreted frizzled related protein type 4 (Sfrp4) as an antagonist of Wnt mole-cules in apoptotic events has been reported previously. Moreover, its increased expression has been reported in the ovary of women with polycystic ovary (PCO). We have demonstrated in-creased Sfrp4 in PCO-induced rat ovary related to an increased number of apoptotic follicles showing nuclear ?cateni...

DBSubLoc: database of protein subcellular localization.

We have built a protein subcellular localization annotation database, the DBSubLoc database, which is available at http://www.bioinfo.tsinghua. edu.cn/dbsubloc.html. Annotations were taken from primary protein databases, model organism genome projects and literature texts, and then were analyzed to dig out the subcellular localization features of the proteins. The proteins are also classified i...

Molecular Characterization of the Epstein-Barr Virus BGLF2 Gene, its Expression, and Subcellular Localization

Background: Epstein–Barr virus (EBV) is a universal herpes virus which can cause a life-long and largely asymptomatic infection in the human population. However, the exact pathogenesis of the EBV infection is not well known. Objective: A comprehensive bioinformatics prediction was carried out for investigating the molecular properties of the BGLF2 and to a...

Improvement of PSORT II Protein Sorting Prediction for Mammalian Proteins

The PSORT system [8] is a unique tool for the prediction of protein subcellular localization in a sense that it can deal with proteins localized at almost all the subcellular compartments. In its several versions, PSORT II [5] was developed for the prediction of eukaryotic proteins using yeast sequences as its training data. The reason why the data from a single species were used was that train...
